Well-Being Webinar ‘Beating Burnout’ Hosted by Shook
In the lead up to next week’s Well-Being Week in Law, May 2-6, Shook hosted an internal webinar, “Beating Burnout,” with speaker Dr. Sharon Meit Abrahams, April 28. Abrahams, a legal talent development coach and speaker, talked to firm employees on recognizing and rebounding from burnout, with tips on how to defeat burnout to obtain a happier, healthier life.
The talk was part of Shook’s commitment to the American Bar Association’s Well-Being Campaign, which was launched in late 2018 in recognition of research showing lawyers have significantly higher rates of substance abuse and mental health problems than professionals in other industries.
Shook was an early signatory on the ABA Well-Being Pledge, being among the first 39 law firms to commit to a seven-point framework for supporting a healthier workplace. The pledge, which requires a yearly commitment renewal, now has a list of 208 firms who are participating.
Today’s presentation reinforced one of the tenets of the pledge, to provide education to everyone in the organization on topics related to well-being, mental health, and substance use disorders.
