ALM Awards Shook’s Miami and Tampa Offices for Best Litigation Performance in State of Florida
American Lawyer Media (ALM) announced Shook’s Miami and Tampa offices won the 2022 Regional Litigation—Florida Award at The American Lawyer Industry Awards gala in New York City, November 10. Shook was also a finalist in the Diversity Initiative and Young Lawyer of the Year (Beyond Practice) Awards.
Shook Miami and Tampa offices won for overall excellence in Florida litigation, in particular for obtaining three remarkable defense verdicts in jury trials that involved important consumer product liability cases. The cases, though regional, had national significance and were reported on by national media outlets. Dan Rogers serves as managing partner for the Miami office, and Jen Voss is the managing partner for Tampa. Shook’s Product Liability Litigation Practice is chaired by Katie Gates Calderon, Bill Geraghty and Hildy Sastre.
Shook was also recognized as a finalist for the Diversity Initiative Award for The Honorable Jon Gray Lawyers Leadership Academy, the firm’s training program designed to educate and promote diverse young lawyers. And Shook Associate Mary Olson was recognized as a finalist for the Young Lawyer of the Year (Beyond Practice) Award for her pioneering pro bono work on behalf of transgender clients in Shook’s Project Affirmation, a name-change and gender-marker amendment clinic.
The competitive, national Industry Awards included 100 finalists chosen from more than 700 submissions, and honored those lawyers, business professionals, law firms and organizations that were performing legal work in 2022 that was “innovative, committed, and the solution-oriented guidance so many companies and individuals needed to navigate global crises, economic opportunity and challenges, political uncertainty and talent migration.”
