Three Shook Partners have been named Top Authors for the 2023 JD Supra Readers’ Choice Awards for the Food and Beverage Litigation and Regulatory Update newsletter. Partners Katie Gates Calderon, Lindsey Heinz and James Muehlberger were acknowledged for Food & Beverage. The JD Supra Readers’ Choice Awards acknowledge the most-read authors and firms for their thought leadership in key topics during the past year. Gates Calderon, Heinz and Muehlberger were in the top 10 in readership out of a pool of 1,250 authors. They wrote on a smorgasbord of topics at the intersection of food, beverages and the law in 2022.
Gates Calderon is the current co-chair of Shook’s Product Liability Litigation Practice Group. Her practice focuses on counseling tobacco, food, beverage, dietary supplement and pet food companies on matters governed by the Food and Drug Administration and U.S. Department of Agriculture, among other regulatory organizations.
Heinz is the co-chair of the firm’s Food, Beverage & Agribusiness Practice Group. She advises her clients on regulatory compliance, enforcement and policy matters involving FDA-regulated products. She has counseled her clients through label reviews and updates, responses to FDA and USDA inspector requests, product recalls and market corrections.
Muehlberger is also a co-chair of Shook’s Food, Beverage & Agribusiness Practice Group and the founding co-chair of Shook’s Class Action Practice Group. His work has included persuading plaintiffs’ counsel to dismiss several purported class actions alleging improper “Natural” and greenwashing claims, based on an analysis of Federal Trade Commission Green Guides.
