Shook Diversity Director Awarded KCMBA President’s Award
Shook’s Director of Strategic Diversity Initiatives, Lolly Cerda, has been awarded the 2023 KCMBA President’s Award. The KCMBA President’s Award is given based upon service to the profession, reflecting favorably on the mission and objective of the association.
In an article featured in the KC Counselor, Cerda’s background is described as a key factor to her success. As the daughter of immigrant workers and one of sixteen children, Cerda learned the importance of hard-work and family. Following high school graduation, Cerda worked several different jobs before applying as a diversity assistant at a large law firm. She then earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees while raising her two sons as a single mom.
“Lolly receives this award for all her hard work on the Steering Committee of the KCMBA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Collaborative,” wrote the KC Counselor. “Lolly is very committed to improving the recruitment, development, engagement and advancement of all; and creating an inclusive culture where everyone feels welcome.”
The KC Counselor is the monthly magazine of Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. The magazine highlights the activities and accomplishments of KCMBA members and law firms and articles about significant developments in the legal community.
