Brandon brings more than 10 years of eDiscovery leadership with a unique combination of firm and in-house experience to his role in the Complex Litigation Strategic Counseling Group. 

Brandon has served as national discovery counsel for several national banking and financial institutions with work including internal investigations, regulatory investigations, civil litigation and multidistrict class action litigation across industry verticals including a wide variety of laws and regulations. As senior discovery manager for a multinational pharmaceutical industry leader, Brandon supported both case management and strategic initiative functions for the internal eDiscovery team. His strategic initiatives included the modernization of collection best practices. As senior project manager for the government investigations and antitrust division of a global legal services company, Brandon responded to a wide variety of government and internal investigations challenges including white collar crime, False Claims Act matters, and second requests relating to mergers and acquisitions.

Brandon has significant experience with leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence to streamline workflows for clients, including the use of conceptual analytics, TAR 1.0, TAR 2.0 and large language models that utilize generative AI. Brandon wrote a technical white paper that was integrated as general policy at a top financial institution (Wells Fargo) to determine whether technology-assisted review was appropriate for cases, and which model would best suit their needs. Brandon also contributes to Shook’s monthly Discovery Case Law Updates which informs on recent discovery trends. He has actively tested and commented on the development of large language models to assist in the efficient early assessment of claims, with particular emphasis on internal investigations.

Brandon’s rapid career rise includes managing a portfolio of matters across a wide variety of practice areas and jurisdictions. He began his career as an eDiscovery review attorney, managing a temporary Charlotte office of 150 attorneys during the discovery phase of a multidistrict class action case in defense of an international leader in the pharmaceutical industry. He has worked as corporate counsel to an exterior facilities management company, managing a litigation portfolio of more than 150 active matters focused on disputes with contractors over purchased services, where he maintained and managed outside counsel, responded to discovery requests, issued legal holds and preservation orders, and managed third party vendors. He also coordinated directly with COO and CEO interests to streamline contract negotiation and execution protocol to reduce prospective litigation risk, increase issue identification, and resolve disputes efficiently. 

With his successes in corporate counseling and providing general corporate best practices, Brandon thrives on bringing fresh perspectives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. His approach integrates technical proficiency with a commitment to empower his clients through cutting-edge legal support.
