James is an associate in the Product Liability Litigation Group. Before joining Shook, James clerked for the Honorable U.S. Magistrate Judge Rachel E. Schwartz at the United States District Court for the District of Kansas, where he assisted in managing half of the judge's civil cases, including class actions and multi-party litigation, asserting claims for employment discrimination, breach of contract, Civil Rights violations, and other state and federal tort claims. He conducted legal research and drafted orders on a wide variety of disputed pre-trial motions, including motions to compel, to amend and to exclude expert witnesses. James prepared and participated in civil hearings, including scheduling conferences, pretrial conferences, and discovery conferences, and preparing post-hearing orders. James earned his J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law and his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from the University of Kansas.
