Sarah is an associate in the firm’s General Liability Litigation Practice Group, where she focuses on complex civil litigation in federal and state courts. She manages matters from initial pleadings through trial and appeal and has taken or defended more dozens of depositions, including plaintiffs, apex witnesses and experts in multidistrict and high stakes corporate litigation and product liability matters.
Sarah has significant experience in managing complicated mass tort litigation, including overseeing a large portfolio of product liability cases nationwide. Sarah leads litigation strategy and successfully manages dozens of active cases across multiple jurisdictions. She has drafted numerous winning filings, argued dispositive and procedural motions in state and federal court, handled surprise regulatory inspections, and managed a federal investigation involving multiple subpoenas. Sarah has substantial experience preparing and defending expert witnesses, including major experts in medical device matters. She has drafted and argued briefing on discovery and expert issues in both state and federal courts, successfully opposing motions to compel and preparing key experts for deposition. She has also taken multiple plaintiff depositions in complex product liability actions and managed all briefing in a separate federal case, including a detailed summary judgment motion addressing expert related issues.
Her trial experience includes first chairing a multi day federal jury trial in a complex civil rights matter, second chairing a complex employment case in Missouri state court, and first chairing numerous bench trials. She has led witness examinations, argued evidentiary issues, conducted voir dire, delivered closing arguments and directed overall case strategy.
Sarah also represents corporate clients in high exposure security services litigation, complex class actions, and personal injury claims with significant damages.
Before joining the firm, Sarah served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, Special Litigation Division. She handled administrative law matters and government investigations at both the state and local levels. Sarah was lead counsel on an evidentiary appeal before the Missouri Court of Appeals–Western District and managed appellate strategy and briefing in a multimillion dollar fee dispute before the Eighth Circuit. She also served as lead attorney for the statewide Hope Initiative, a program focused on combating human trafficking.
Sarah is active in the community, currently serving as a member of Midtown KC Now and previously serving on Rockhurst University’s Young Alumni Council, the Missouri Human Trafficking Task Force, and the Forte planning committee. In 2020, The Missouri Times named her to its “30 Under 30” list.
