Dave is a business litigation attorney with first-chair jury trial experience. He assists clients through all phases of investigation and litigation.

Before joining Shook, Dave served on active duty in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps. During his time as a judge advocate, Dave served as a military prosecutor and national security advisor. As a prosecutor, he served as the lead counsel in numerous felony investigations and trials. Dave interviewed and prepared fact and expert witnesses, managed discovery, and drafted and argued motions, including motions in limine, dispositive motions, and motions for directed verdict. He also regularly trained federal and military law enforcement personnel on proper investigative techniques and constitutional law issues. While assigned to the XVIII Airborne Corps, Dave served as the Commanding General’s national security advisor and as a member of the Assault Command Post. 

In 2022, Dave rapidly deployed to Europe in support of NATO Operation European Assure, Deter, and Reinforce as part of Joint Task Force Dragon. Dave provided advice and counsel on the law of armed conflict, contract and fiscal law issues, intelligence gathering and sharing, ethics and other legal matters. His military awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and the Senior Parachutist Badge. Additionally, Dave was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for saving the life of another paratrooper during an airborne training operation.

Dave earned his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law. While in law school, he served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Bert Richardson of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, and was a staff editor for the Texas Review of Entertainment & Sports Law. Dave was also a member of the interscholastic mock trial team and was inducted into the Order of the Barristers. He earned his B.A. in economics from the University of Chicago. Dave’s military education includes the Collateral Damage Estimation Course and the Static Line Jumpmaster Course.
