Brien defends clients in product liability litigation. He brings a unique background to his practice, having worked across industries and practice areas including insurance, music, media and television, data privacy and security, and product liability and label misrepresentation.
Brien earned his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law, where he also earned a Master of Laws in entertainment, arts and sports law. He earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from California State University, Sacramento. Between his law and undergraduate degrees, Brien worked as a staff analyst at the California Department of Justice.
While in law school, Brien worked as a legal intern for Rimas Music, drafting agreement contracts for producers’ work on artists’ tracks, and service agreements contracts for dancers, makeup artists and graphic designers for a major music tour. He was also a legal intern for TelevisaUnivision, working on proposed legislative bill research and communicating potential compliance, trademark and copyright infringement issues to film content directors and producers. In addition, Brien was also a summer fellow for a major insurance company, reviewing and analyzing policies and claims, and presenting on coverage litigation.
As an undergraduate, Brien was a practice player on the Sacramento State Basketball team. He has given back to his community by coaching and hosting basketball clinics for young players as a jr. Kings coach for the National Basketball Association – Sacramento Kings, and as a head coach for a local high school.
