Shook Attorneys Contribute to Book of Essays on Women in Law

Shook Senior Counsel Alicia M. Menendez served as an editor and Senior Counsel Lauren Greenspoon served as an associate editor of Her Story: The Resilient Woman Lawyer’s Guide to Conquering Obstacles, Book 2, a collection of essays about women in the legal profession.

The American Bar Association (ABA) said the book, which was published Jan. 12, “is a collection of essays that tell us that we are not alone, that there is a sisterhood in the legal profession that supports us, and that we can learn from one another and lift up others who share our experiences.”

Shook Technology Transactions Practice Group Chair Amy Ragen contributed an essay to the book titled “Career Transitions: Interval Training for Life.”

Her Story is the second essay collection to be published by the ABA Litigation Section’s Woman Advocate Committee; it follows Her Story: Lessons in Success from Lawyers Who Live It.

“These are meaningful and hope-filled stories about the value of being true to ourselves, establishing unique career paths, and finding guideposts and beacons to enlighten us along the way to success,” ABA said. “Her Story is a guidebook through tough times and a road map for eliminating the obstacles we can change.”

Menendez has served on the Woman Advocate Committee’s Book Subcommittee since 2019, and has served as its co-chair since 2021.
