Law360 recently reported that Shook, Hardy & Bacon has “stayed on top in the recession, leveraging its Midwestern roots to provide unbeatable value to clients.”
In researching firms for its annual survey, Law360 named Shook's product liability practice the largest of its kind in the United States. Additionally, Law360 recognized the firm’s environmental and intellectual property practices as among the largest in the United States.
The Law360 survey is based primarily on overall headcounts, but Shook Chair John Murphy commented that the firm is not as focused on numbers relating to attorneys.
“We have never approached growth in terms of numbers,” Murphy said in the report. “It’s far better to be creative in things like your approach to cases and your billing strategies. My belief is that if you stick to your knitting, the numbers take care of themselves.”
Shook’s previous accolades include recognition as Who’s Who Legal’s Global Product Liability Law Firm of the Year and The American Lawyer Product Liability Litigation Department of the Year.
