Shook Florida Named Product Liability Litigation Department of the Year

The Daily Business Review named Shook, Hardy & Bacon its 2016 Product Liability Litigation Department of the Year, based upon the product liability litigation success of the firm’s Miami and Tampa offices in 2015.

Shook is one of seven law firms to be recognized for “demonstrated excellence” at DBR’s fourth annual Litigation Department of the Year Awards ceremony on November 10.

Among recent Shook Florida product liability successes:

• Defense of Philip Morris USA in Engle Progeny trials: Jose Vila v. Philip Morris USA in January 2015, Tina Russo v. Philip Morris et al in April 2015, and Fannie Collar v. Philip Morris USA et al in July 2015;

• Defense of Boston Scientific Corp. in pelvic mesh trials: Martha Carlson v. Boston Scientific Corp. in Oct. 2015 and Eve Sherrer v. Boston Scientific Corp. et al in Feb. 2016; and

• Defense of Stryker Corp. in a knee prosthesis product liability case; original dismissal in April 2015, and appeals court confirmation of dismissal in April 2016.

Shook won DBR’s General Litigation – Large Law Firm award in 2015.
