Chicago Pro Bono Team Wins Asylum Ruling For Minors

Associate Matt Wolfe and his pro bono team won an important victory for two minors who fled gang persecution in El Salvador when a Chicago immigration court granted their applications for asylum January 18, 2018. The two cousins had been repeatedly threatened by the MS-13 street gang through extortion and recruitment. They escaped to the United States at ages 11 and 13.

Matt and his team have been representing the minors for four years; the clients are now in high school and pursuing permanent citizenship. The team included paralegal Melissa Chambers, legal administrative assistants Thomasina Johnson and Linda Rozich, Partner Gary Miller, and summer associate Kathleen Ryan.
