Missouri Lawyers Weekly Honors Paralegal Darren Thomas with Unsung Heroes Award

Shook Paralegal Darren Thomas has received the 2018 Unsung Legal Heroes Award from Missouri Lawyers Weekly. Thomas is being honored in the paralegal category for his work with the firm's Pro Bono practice group and the Missouri Coalition for the Right to Counsel (MCRC).

The MCRC is a nonprofit created to provide courtroom training to early-career attorneys by encouraging them to represent public defender clients. The program benefits both the private practice attorneys, who receive real-time trial experience, as well as the community, by easing the system’s difficult caseload. Thomas was instrumental in the MCRC's expansion to Kansas City, taking on the role of project manager and serving as the main point of contact for all attorneys, clients and potential clients.

When asked why he does what he does, Thomas said, “The many client successes. Shook has the resources to get the best possible outcome for the client. The gratitude and fulfillment that comes with the territory has been so rewarding.”

The Unsung Legal Heroes Award honors law firm employees who have consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty, often behind the scenes. The award recognizes Missouri's most talented and dedicated legal support professionals.
