International Association of Defense Counsel Appoints Shook Partner for Amicus Leadership Role

The International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) has appointed Shook Partner Phil Goldberg as its Amicus Committee Chair. The IADC will formally announce its new leadership team at its Annual Conference, which is being held virtually this year from July 6-15.

Goldberg leads Shook’s Washington, D.C. office and is co-chair of the firm’s Public Policy Practice and National Amicus Practice.  In these roles, Goldberg has assisted clients in addressing important civil liability issues outside of the trial courts, often in front of appellate courts, legislatures and the media. Under Goldberg’s leadership, the firm typically files about three dozen amicus briefs for clients and industry organizations every year.

The IADC marks its 100-year anniversary in 2020 and is a members-only exclusive organization made up of corporate and insurance defense counsel. Along with professional development, one of its missions is legal reform. In addition to Goldberg’s appointment to lead the Amicus Committee, IADC has re-appointed Partner Mark Behrens to chair its Civil Justice Response Committee. Behrens has held this position for the past few years.
