Shook Partners Earn International Litigation and Arbitration Board Certification
Shook Partner John Barkett and Partner and Chair of the Global Arbitration Practice Group Carlos Concepción have earned International Litigation and Arbitration board certification from the Florida Bar.
Barkett serves as an arbitrator, mediator, facilitator or allocator in a variety of commercial, environmental and reinsurance contexts. He is a member of the London Court of International Arbitration and the International Council for Commercial Arbitration and is a Fellow of both the American College of Civil Trial Mediators and the American College of Environmental Lawyers.
Concepción has served as counsel in a wide range of domestic and international litigation and arbitration matters. He concentrates his practice in the areas of financial services, design and construction, telecommunications and transnational disputes involving parties from multiple jurisdictions. He has substantial experience with multilingual and multicultural teams, which provides a strategic advantage in dealing with parties and evidence from different legal systems, especially in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Only approximately 7% of Florida’s more than 107,000 lawyers have earned board certification. Florida Bar board certification recognizes attorneys with special knowledge, skills and proficiency in specific areas of law, and professionalism and ethics in practice, and is the highest level of recognition by the Florida Bar for the competency and experience of a lawyer practicing in a specialty area.
