Shook Partner Quoted on Legal Trends in Thomson Reuters Profile
Shook Partner John Barkett is featured in Thomson Reuters’ Practical Law The Journal in a Q&A covering a variety of topics including the biggest challenges clients are currently facing, a significant pro bono case and the lasting influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on the practice of law.
“The COVID-19 outbreak resulted in more extensive use of technology in the legal profession, which will persist beyond the pandemic,” Barkett stated when asked what changes will affect the practice of law going forward. “Video platforms will continue to be utilized as a cost-savings tool, conference calls in many settings will be replaced by video-conference calls, and more lawyers will telecommute even absent a shelter-in-place order.”
Barkett is a commercial and environmental lawyer who has handled scores of complex and simple litigation matters in federal and state courts or before an arbitration tribunal. He is a Fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators, the American College of Civil Trial Mediators and the American College of Environmental Lawyers. Barkett is board-certified in International Litigation and Arbitration.
