Sedona Conference Selects Shook Partner for Steering Committee

Shook Partner Colman McCarthy was appointed to a three-year term to The Sedona Conference Working Group 11: Data Security and Privacy Liability Steering Committee, effective May 12, 2023. McCarthy was selected for his years of demonstrated commitment and service to the organization’s mission, specifically for his extensive subject-matter knowledge, his significant contributions to the Working Group’s meetings and drafting team efforts, and “capacity for dialogue and working to achieve consensus.”

Recognized as a top practitioner for multiple years in Privacy & Data Security in Chambers USA and Chambers Global, McCarthy advises clients across the country on their obligations under both domestic and international privacy and data security laws. In his new role at The Sedona Conference, McCarthy will support the Working Group in their efforts of identifying and commenting on data security and privacy law trends, helping organizations prepare for and respond to data breaches, and assisting attorneys and judicial officers in resolving questions of legal liability and damages.
