Ninth Circuit Appoints Shook Partner to Judicial Conference

Shook Los Angeles Managing Partner Michael Mallow has been appointed to a three-year term as a lawyer representative to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference. Mallow will represent the Central District of California, which is the largest federal district in the country, comprised of seven counties and serving more than 20 million residents. Mallow was selected by federal district and Ninth Circuit judges from a group of top applicants.

The lawyer representative position assists the courts in improving the administration of justice. Typical duties include serving as the representative of the bar to advance opinions and suggestions for improvement, assisting the courts in the implementation of new programs and procedures, and surveying federal bar members about issues or concerns and recommending rule or policy change.

For nearly 30 years, Mallow has been at the forefront of representing clients in significant consumer protection matters, which involve class action and complex litigation. He is the co-chair of Shook’s Class Action & Appellate Litigation Practice Group, and his numerous accolades include Chambers USA rankings in four categories, The Best Lawyers in America for Product Liability Litigation – Defendants, Los Angeles Business Journal’s Top 100 Lawyers, and being named a Southern California Visionary by the Los Angeles Times
