McCarthy Named Chair of Sedona Conference Privacy Working Group
Shook Partner Colman McCarthy has been named the next chair of The Sedona Conference’s Working Group 11 (WG11) on Data Security and Privacy Liability. McCarthy has served as a member of the group previously as a Secretary for the Steering Committee and as a Steering Committee member.
The mission of Working Group 11 is to identify and comment on trends in data security and privacy law to help organizations prepare for and respond to evolving legal requirements and data-security risks, and to assist attorneys and judicial officers in resolving questions of legal liability and damages. As chair, McCarthy will oversee the group as they develop consensus-based commentaries, principles and practical guidance for a broad spectrum of legal and technical practitioners in the field of data security and privacy.
The Sedona Conference is a research and educational institute dedicated to the advanced study of law and policy in a variety of practice areas with a mission to move the law forward through advanced legal education for the bench and bar.
McCarthy’s two-year term will run through WG11’s Annual Meeting in the spring of 2028.
