Alexandre Barbour represents clients in complex litigation, with a focus on class action and appellate matters. Before joining Shook, Alex honed his skills in plaintiff-side class action litigation involving complex oil and gas royalty underpayment disputes. This background provides him with a unique understanding of offensive tactics, which he leverages to proactively mitigate risk and align legal strategy with clients’ business objectives. Alex brings strong experience in high-stakes federal motion practice, including dispositive motions, appellate briefs, class certification briefing and matters involving novel questions of contract law, statutory interpretation and federal jurisdiction. His work spans all phases of litigation, from early case strategy and deposition planning to settlement approval and post-disposition advocacy.

Before entering private practice, Alex gained extensive federal judicial and government litigation experience, drafting memoranda, orders, briefs and internal analyses on civil litigation issues, federal procedure and jurisdiction. He draws on that background to help clients evaluate complex legal questions, manage demanding records and advance sophisticated litigation strategies with clarity and precision.
