Micah coordinates mass tort litigation and advises clients in all aspects of product liability defense. Her experience includes: leading strategy; removal of state court actions and defending against remand of same; coordinating all aspects of discovery including selection, review and production of electronically-stored information (ESI); preparing cases for trial; negotiating inventory and individual settlements; advising clients on litigation strategy; and overseeing class settlement and consolidated proceedings. Micah has worked with expert witnesses in many disciplines, preparing defense experts and challenging plaintiffs’ experts through depositions and motion practice. Micah is also adept at early resolution of cases through phased discovery plans, targeted discovery and early motion practice. She has successfully used strategies such as Lone Pine orders, early resolution of causation issues through staged discovery and aggressive dispositive motions to limit or terminate litigation before full-blown merits workup of individual cases. Micah also has experience in targeted settle-and-defend strategies that aggressively resolve selected cases while simultaneously defending weak cases in order to favorably define the scope of mass litigation.
In addition to her product liability practice, Micah is actively involved in representing pro bono clients, participating in local bar activities and serving on bar association committees. Micah was also a founding member and the fundraising chair of the Protect Your Child Day project.
Micah is active in the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and graduated from the KCMBA Bar Leadership Academy in 2010. Micah also serves on several charitable boards and regularly volunteers for local and national charitable organizations focused on children and families.
