Elliot is an associate in Shook’s Business Litigation practice group. His practice combines sophisticated litigation experience, judicial insight and a deep understanding of complex regulatory and technology-related disputes. He has a comprehensive track record of success in federal courts, including motion practice and oral arguments, in New York, Florida, Ohio, Texas, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Utah. Elliot has handled matters at all stages of litigation from pre-suit investigation and discovery through class certification, dispositive motions, mediation and settlement negotiations.
He has significant experience representing clients in consumer class actions involving data privacy issues, such as Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA) claims, Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) claims, Utah Notice of Intent to Sell Nonpublic Personal Information Act claims, Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) claims, Illinois Genetic Information Privacy Act (GIPA) claims and HIPAA claims. His broader litigation experience involves representing clients in breach of contract matters that stem from online browsewrap and clickwrap agreements, arbitrations under the AAA, ancillary discovery proceedings involving third parties, false advertising claims under varying state laws, right of publicity claims and other claims arising under state autorenewal statutes.
Prior to joining Shook, Elliot served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Doris L. Pryor of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He also clerked for the Honorable Mary S. Scriven of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. These experiences have allowed Elliot to bring the perspective of a former federal trial and appellate law clerk to his practice when assessing complex disputes from both the trial and appellate perspectives.
Elliot earned his J.D., cum laude, from Florida A&M University College of Law, graduating seventh in his class having served as Vice President of the Student Bar Association and Notes and Comments Editor of the FAMU Law Review.
