Brittany brings nearly 20 years of experience across every phase of litigation to the Complex Litigation Strategic Counseling Group. She quickly and candidly assesses claims, allowing clients to make early strategic decisions and sidestep avoidable expenses.
Brittany has managed an array of commercial litigation and tort claims. She defends railroads against catastrophic personal injury and FELA claims. She represents financial services companies in consumer protection cases. She is conversant in bankruptcy issues, having represented creditors and trustees in actions related to fraudulent and preferential transfers and automatic stay violations. And she has experience in handling cases involving close corporation disputes, shareholder oppression, restrictive covenants, fiduciary obligations, and breaches of contract.

Before law school, Brittany completed a fellowship studying judicial administration. She was placed at the California Supreme Court Clerk’s Office, where she spearheaded educational initiatives, assisted with court operations and observed high-profile oral arguments.
A proven team player, Brittany captained the University of California at Berkeley’s women’s soccer team. Brittany is committed to community service and was the long-time president of the Evanston Animal Shelter Association, a non-profit that operates Evanston’s municipal animal shelter.
Representative Matters
Served as first chair at trial defending claim that bank’s predecessor violated the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act because its apparent agent sold unsuitable annuities. After Brittany presented the defendant’s expert witness, the matter was satisfactorily resolved by agreement.
Argued against recognition of a Panamanian heirship order based on comity in Florida probate proceeding. Brittany prevailed on several discovery motions then drafted the appellate brief when her opponent challenged the trial court’s rulings as inconsistent with the Panamanian order. The case was satisfactorily resolved after the request for appellate intervention was denied.
Represented bankruptcy trustee seeking declaration that assets were property of the estate based on theories of reverse veil piercing of LLCs and trust piercing. Brittany drafted the opposition to defendants’ dismissal motions, arguing the trustee’s theories were recognized under Illinois and Delaware law. The bankruptcy court agreed, allowing the trustee to pursue recovery.
Defended breach of contract and fraud claims in the Southern District of Texas where plaintiff purchased materials that allegedly violated an implied warranty and caused substantial damage in a municipal construction project. Brittany obtained dismissal of the fraud count, leading to settlement of the remaining contract claim.
Obtained summary determination that clients’ post-employment restrictive covenants were unenforceable for lack of adequate consideration after defeating the plaintiff’s motion for temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction.
Successfully defended removal of claim against financial institution client based on diversity jurisdiction where removal occurred before the plaintiff both joined and served the resident defendant. Brittany’s client settled shortly after the remand motion was denied.
