Jeff practices in the Class Action and Appellate Litigation Group and has broad corporate and government investigations experience representing technology, media, financial services, consumer products and consulting companies in connection with high-stakes, complex internal investigations, regulatory inquiries, and governmental enforcement matters.
Jeff's experience includes interfacing with federal and state regulators, including the SEC, DOJ, FTC, FINRA, and various state attorneys general. He has experience managing discovery, drafting pleadings, briefs, and motions, and managing complex internal investigations.
Earlier in his career, Jeff worked as a legal secondee for Meta Platforms, Inc., in their Security, Integrity and Investigations Group, where he conducted risk assessments and internal investigations. He earned his J.D. magna cum laude from Cardozo School of Law, where he received the Order of the Coif and served as the senior notes editor for the Cardozo Law Review.
Jeff maintains an active and varied pro bono practice. He has represented veterans in obtaining their wrongfully denied benefits, helped individuals gain protected status in the United States, and provided assistance to groups fighting against gun violence and antisemitism.
Representative Matters
Successfully represented an AI data-mining and alerting company in an SEC fraud investigation related to the company’s claims about their machine learning models. The SEC closed the investigation without recommending any enforcement action.
Represented a major food delivery app company in an FTC investigation into their pricing and order assignment algorithms.
Represented a leading investment management company in wide-reaching FINRA and SEC investigations into technical lapses that caused significant inaccuracies in client account statements and tax documents.
Represented an online brokerage in connection with a FINRA investigation into the adequacy of its automated options approval systems.
Represented a financial technology company in an internal investigation related to potential securities laws violations raised during an OSHA wrongful termination proceeding.
Represented a global technology firm in connection with an internal investigation related to a whistleblower accusation of company-wide immigration fraud.
