Russell brings a resume of successful scholarship and clerkship experience to his practice in the Class Action and Appellate Litigation Group.
In his clerkship with The Honorable Robert M. Illman of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Russell researched and prepared orders and recommendations on a range of legal issues and also assisted with settlement conferences, pretrial conferences, motion hearings and discovery hearings.
Russell earned his J.D. summa cum laude from the University of San Francisco School of Law, where he was an editor for both the University of San Francisco Law Review and the University of San Francisco Maritime Law Journal. While there, he earned numerous CALI Awards, participated in moot court competition, and was awarded first place for Excellence in Trial Advocacy from the University’s Intensive Advocacy Program. He also interned for the Aviation, Space & Admiralty Litigation Section of the Torts Branch of the U.S. Department of Justice. Russell earned his bachelor’s degree summa cum laude in literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he was a member of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Team and was recognized twice with the University’s Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Award.
Representative Matters
Part of a team representing a major retailer and a maker of cleaning products in personal injury lawsuit in which plaintiff sought $43 million in damages. Full defense verdict; no damages paid.
