Eblen Named Rising Star by Law360

Shook, Hardy & Bacon Partner Charlie Eblen has been named a 2016 Rising Star by Law360. Eblen, who was recognized for his excellence in the “trials” category, was among 179 attorneys under the age of 40 honored nationwide.

Law360’s Rising Star distinction recognizes young attorneys practicing at a level usually seen from veteran attorneys. Editors reviewed more than 1,100 submissions this year.

As lead trial counsel, Eblen has handled a wide variety of types of cases for his clients, including tort and personal injury defense, breach of contract, and commercial litigation related to insurance policies, among other kinds of trials. Within a five-year period, Eblen served as first-chair trial counsel for 10 jury trials and second-chair for three, second-chair trial counsel in one non-jury trial, and lead appellate counsel in 21 appeals.

Paul Williams, fellow partner at Shook, shared this about Eblen in this submission:

Charlie leads by example in substantive trial work and legal practice, in business development savvy and efforts, and importantly, in mentoring, teaching, personally attending to the cultivation and development of peers and teammates to help them be better lawyers, better colleagues, and be friends. Charlie is energetic, upbeat, and works well (perhaps best) under significant pressure. He is comfortable and appropriately confident whether battling in court with a 40-year veteran plaintiff's trial attorney or delivering constructive criticism to a team member about written work product or client relations. Charlie also has the trust of clients and tries big cases (multi-millions) for his clients. He is attuned to client needs, jury cues, and judge expectations. Any one of these is great, but the package of all of these qualities makes Charlie exceptional.
