Legal Newsline Quotes Schwartz on COVID-19 Lawsuits and Pandemic Prediction
Shook Public Policy Group Co-Chair Victor Schwartz was quoted by Legal Newsline in “Even Homeowners Could Be in Danger of Lawyers Trying to Cash in on Coronavirus.” Schwartz remarked on plaintiffs’ lawyers plans to file multiple types of COVID-19 lawsuits.
“Plaintiff lawyers right now are trying to think about possible classes,” Schwartz said.
The article also notes that 11 years ago, Schwartz was the lead author on an article that warned about a shortage of N-95 respirators during a pandemic because of lack of availability and affordability due to thousands of marginal lawsuits. The 2009 article, which appeared in the American Journal of Trial Advocacy, stated, “As the world prepares for a potential pandemic of influenza, the availability of respirators could not be more critically important.”
Schwartz, who was named one of Washington’s Top 30 “Visionary” lawyers by The Legal Times of Washington, has also been recognized by The National Law Journal as one of the 100 most influential lawyers in the United States.
