Daniel is an associate in Shook’s Intellectual Property Prosecution and Counseling group in Kansas City. He focuses his practice on patent prosecution, anchored by a strong foundation in both legal and technical disciplines. This includes experience as a Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office where he worked closely with attorneys and applicants to advance prosecution strategies and navigate the patent examination process. In that role, Daniel analyzed patent applications in the biomedical engineering space. Daniel leverages his knowledge as a former examiner to counsel clients through the complexities of the patent application process.

Daniel graduated from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law, with an emphasis in intellectual property, where he was a comment editor and writer for the UMKC Law Review. During law school, Daniel interned for the UMKC Intellectual Property Clinic and served as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Laura Johnson of the 38th Judicial Circuit for the State of Missouri as part of his completion of the school’s Pro Bono Honors Program.
