Shook Global Arbitration Chair to Lead Miami International Arbitration Society

Shook Partner Carlos Concepción will lead  the Miami International Arbitration Society (MIAS), effective January 1, 2019. Concepción, who chairs Shook’s Global Arbitration Practice, is known for his strategic approach to navigating disputes with parties and evidence from different legal systems, especially in Latin America, Brazil and the Caribbean. The mission of MIAS is to champion international arbitration and mediation and when appropriate, encourage the use of Miami as the legal jurisdiction for international disputes involving the Americas.

“I’ve been deeply involved with MIAS for more than one decade and excited to lead the organization,” said Concepción. “MIAS will continue to promote its members, and build bridges with other like minded institutions that are committed to the Rule of Law in the development of international arbitration.”

Concepción joined Shook in November and focuses on international litigation and arbitration involving financial services, construction and transnational disputes in multiple jurisdictions.

Shook is known globally for its strength in business litigation, mediation and arbitration for health, science and technology companies.
