Bill focuses his practice on product liability litigation in both individual and complex litigation. Bill works in all stages of litigation, including discovery, motion practice and trial. He has served on numerous case teams and trial teams in the defense of personal injury and wrongful death matters in state and federal jurisdictions across the country. Bill has served as a key player in developing trial themes, resulting in favorable verdicts in many of his trials.

Bill serves on three mass-litigation teams working on cases all the way from responding to the complaint through trial. During the discovery phase, he develops strategic ideas and defense themes through intensive background research, written discovery, and depositions. Bill is a team player who works closely with case teams to make certain teammates focus their work on their areas of strengths, and encourages diversity of thought and ideas. In some litigations, Bill manages the case team in preparing for all stages of discovery and supports co-defendants when needed. This includes preparing deposition outlines, taking depositions, briefing legal issues and arguing motions.

Outside his practice, Bill devotes volunteer hours to increasing awareness of diversity and inclusion issues, particularly for the LGBT community. He is the vice president of the board of directors of SAVE, Inc., a nonprofit that helps provide housing solutions for those who are socially and medically disadvantaged, with an emphasis on people living with HIV/AIDS. He also is a member of the LGBTQ Bar Association of Greater Kansas City and the LGBT Chamber of Commerce.

Before joining the legal profession, Bill taught middle-school math at Lincoln College Preparatory Academy, through the Teach for America program in Kansas City, Missouri. He also chaired the math department at Lincoln, and initiated an afterschool tutoring program for mathematics and communications arts.
